Belgian Chocolate at Sochi Olympics

Belgian chocolate makes headlines at the Sochi Olympics.  The Telegraph reported on February 7, 2014 that Belgian chocolate would be exempt from import bands at the Sochi Olympics.  Turns out Olympic athletes are willing to make a fuss over good chocolate.

Smell of Chocolate Increases Sales at Bookstore

The Belgians have done it again. A study conducted by Belgian psychologists at Hasselt University have found that the ambient smell of chocolate increases sales. The study conducted at a bookstore found that sales increased when buyers enjoyed the ambient smell of chocolate. The findings were published in the December 2013 issue of the Journal of Environmental Psychology. This study follows up a 2008 study that found that the smell of chocolate-chip cookies increased impulse purchased among women.

If you know someone going back to school, you might want to give them a bar of dark chocolate. Flavonoid in Chocolate Increases Memory

Chocolate is not only good for you, but it may help your memory too. A study published in the Journal of Experimental Biology  found that the  flavonoid epicatechin (epi) in chocolate helped snails improve memory function.  The benefits of chocolate just keep getting better.
